As we examine these treasures we are reminded of the significant discoveries, changes, and accomplishments in history that helped to shape past and present popular culture along the way. What parties did they attend, occasions did they mark? What romances did they kindle, or sustain? In some pieces we are able to uncover glimpses of past lives and origin from certain markings, signs of reworking, engraving, technique, or by word of mouth stories from previous owners. Mostly we only know the story that the physical piece can tell.
